This post ties beautifully to the journey I’ve been on lately. I wanted to share a thoughtful gift I received: a GitLab LEGO set from Coding Black Females (CBF)
For context, CBF is an incredible support system for underrepresented individuals breaking into tech. If you’re considering a transition into tech or looking for a community that genuinely supports growth, I highly recommend them. This isn’t a sponsored mention, just a heartfelt note of appreciation for a community that gives more than just classes.
Connecting The Dots
Now, back to the LEGO. As I started assembling it, I couldn’t help but reflect on how much it parallels cloud computing.
I gained even more clarity about why I’m in tech and why cloud computing feels like home. I’m not here just to run scripts or troubleshoot systems. I’m here to solve problems, build solutions. To document them, present them, and even sell them.
When you see a single LEGO piece, it might not seem significant. It’s plain, maybe even boring. But when you start connecting the pieces, something incredible happens. You create structures that are tailored to your vision; limitless, adaptable, and entirely your own.
It reminded me of a recent DevOps challenge where I used cloud tools to create an Amazon S3 bucket, fetch real-time weather data from OpenWeather using Python, and document the process on GitHub. Each step, configuring the storage, writing the code, and integrating the API, was like snapping LEGO pieces together. Alone, they don’t do much. Together, they create a system that solves a real-world problem.
Just like LEGO, cloud computing isn’t about the individual pieces; it’s about what you can build with them.
A Final Thought
The LEGO set reminded me that building is a journey, one piece at a time.
To anyone on their own journey, whether in tech or elsewhere, remember that every small step matters. Keep building.
Love & Cloud,
